If you haven’t yet accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, it’s still not too late.   And it’s easy to do!

First admit your need.  You have to admit that you’re a sinner.  Romans 3:23 says “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”  Maybe you haven’t done any of the “big” sins like murder, maybe you haven’t robbed a bank, maybe you’ve always been good and kind.  But we’ve all failed to do what God wants us to do.  That, disobedience to God, is the definition of sin.

Then be willing to turn from your sins, which is the meaning of repentance.  In Luke 5:32 the Word says “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sin, and rose from the grave.  John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  If you were the only sinner in the world, Jesus would have given his all for you.

The last step is to pray the sinner’s prayer and invite Jesus Christ into your heart, and allow him to have control over you through the presence of his Holy Spirit.

The prayer doesn’t have to be long and eloquent.  Just pray this prayer, or one like it:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner.  I don’t always obey you.  Please forgive me.  I believe that you died on the cross for my sins.  I want to turn from my sins and follow you.  Please come into my heart and be my Lord and my God.  Thank you, Jesus.  Your word says that if I ask, you will save me, and I know your Word is true.  Thank you for saving me.  Jesus, I pray this in your name.  Amen.

That’s all it takes. You are saved.  Does this mean you’ll have a perfect life from now on?  Certainly not.  But you’ll have Jesus to help you through all the trials that come your way.  And find a fellowship of believers to join with in worship.
