Focused. Flexible. Faithful.

Some notes on a long overdue CD project.

Focused.

Keep the goal in mind. Get the project started.

I’ve talked about recording music too many times, only to let other things take priority. Time to change that.

Flexible.

Keep preconceived ideas from stifling creativity. Keep the project going. It’s OK to have a plan, but when the Holy Spirit inspires, follow Him.

Flexibility doesn’t conflict with focus. Focus relates to the project as a whole. Stay in the flow. Don’t let focus dictate an unchanging route to the destination. I’m from Central New York, where the two seasons are Winter and Construction. During the season of Construction you may take a different route to the destination today than you did yesterday.

Faithful.

Stay true to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Define the project’s goal. If a single soul is won to Christ the trip will have been worth it.

Focused. Flexible. Faithful.

As long as this project has been on hold, I can still get really excited about it. It’ll give me a chance to do a bunch of things that I really enjoy doing. Along with playing guitar and keyboard, I’ll track other instrument sounds via midi, using keyboard, windcontroller, and midi guitar. I’ll be singing some, but don’t let that scare you. Some tracks will be instrumentals.

The project is currently conceived as a mix of originals and some public domain "old-timey" Christian tunes.

I’ll try to get some friends to help with the BGVs and music.

And if the original plan holds, look for some family involvement in the project. Wendie will be helping out, and I’m hoping our youngest, Andrew, will do some guitar playing and more.

Focused. Flexible. Faithful.

Focused.

Acts 20:24 — But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Phil 3:14 — I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

2 Tim 4:7 — I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Flexible.

1 Cor 9:19-22 — [19] For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. [20] And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; [21] To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. [22] To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak; I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

Phil 4:11-12 — [11] Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. [12] I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound; every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

1 Thes 5:19 — Quench not the Spirit.

Faithful.

Romans 1:16 — For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

John 19:30 — When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
